Gerard Carry
Irish born artist Gerard Carry attended “The Art Student’s League of New York” where in his final year he was awarded the Arnold Blanche Memorial Scholarship for merit. Since finishing his studies Mr. Carry has received numerous portrait commissions. Most notable Leon Spinks, World Heavyweight Champion and Doctor Paul Marks, former director of Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. Other commissioned works include two large canvases depicting pre civil-war Marietta/Atlanta Georgia which today hang in the lobby of the Hilton Hotel in Marietta. Mr. Carry has also completed large scale murals for private businesses. An example of which may be viewed at Murphy’s Law Restaurant in New York, NY. Currently the artist is working on landscape paintings inspired by his travels to Ireland and New Mexico in addition to works of his adopted city, New York. Most recently, Mr. Carry was commissioned by the Irish Repertory Theater of New York to design the artwork for their 2009 production of two one-act plays by Conal Creedon.
