Mikel Wintermantel has had an expeditious rise in the art world with his luminous landscapes. His education took him from RISD to studies with the Late Cole Young. He was accepted into the prestigious Copley Society in 2002 and attained Copley Master status in 2006. That same year he awarded the John Singleton Copley Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement. His work has been featured in the several issues of American Artist magazine. He has won numerous national awards for his paintings and his work can be found hanging in prominent collections worldwide. His workshops are a perennial favorite at the Copley Society in Boston and he was featured in the premiere issue of American Artist Workshop magazine. 5 of his paintings were included in the This Old House Carlisle Project. Mikel can often be found at dawn or dusk scanning the horizon for the subject of his next painting.
